Purpose: To analyse the accuracy of arriving at the provisional diagnosis and validate differential diagnosis by AI symptom checker, the accuracy of triaging advice to patients, to assess satisfaction of treating physicians and patients toward AI patient education on patient’s condition and to determine the acceptance level and friendly use of the Mediverse AI symptom checker.
Background Info: Mediverse AI Symptom Checker is developed by a team of digital enthusiasts, Malaysian doctors with academic background in medicine and aims to make a revolutionary approach to make health care accessible and affordable for everyone including the population living in remote areas. During the global health crisis of coronavirus disease, Covid-19, the global healthcare systems and healthcare workers were struggling to cope with the growing population and increasing demands, round-the-clock care and insufficient resources. Mediverse AI Symptom checkers have the potential to alleviate the pressure on overly burdened healthcare systems and to reduce health disparities within under-served populations. Mediverse AI functions by asking users a series of questions about their symptoms. A list of potential diagnoses and advice will then be provided on whether a user should seek further treatment. Mediverse AI symptom checker has the potential to encourage someone to seek immediate care situations in which emergent care is required and to encourage someone to rest at home for situations in which home care is appropriate. It does not aim to replace health care physicians; in fact, we believe this Artificial intelligence (AI)–driven symptom checker will be a valuable assisting tool for the doctors.The utility of Artificial Intelligence (AI) symptom checker relies on coverage, accuracy and safety, hence for these systems to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare, it is important to evaluate the system’s clinical performance, accuracy, safety and reliability. Hence, the findings of this study will help healthcare providers, researchers, and policymakers understand about the potential benefits and limitations of the Mediverse AI system and guide the development of future AI applications in healthcare.
